The WF continually receives postings from people asking “how to make $1,000,000 by Saturday” and other similar requests. This post was made to address this and other related questions.

I thought that I’d take a moment to investigate this question in a bit more detail. To do so, I’d like to evaluate the question by applying some concepts from Systems Engineering.

A Systems Perspective
From a systems perspective, one can gain substantial insight into his/her business operations. What is a system? A system is defined as a set of things that work together toward a common goal. Pretty open definition, huh? Actually, everything in this world is a system. What are the “things” that work together? Let’s call them subsystems and components.

A System & Subsystem Analogy
Here’s an analogy for you. Your car (or SUV) is a system that has many subsystems (transmission, engine, suspension, etc) and many components (tires, steering wheel, gas pedal, etc) that are working together to provide you with the functions that you expect from your vehicle. See how the pieces fit together?

How does this apply to your business? Well, first you must start to think and view your business as a system. You have many subsystems (marketing process, advertising, sales process, product ideation, product delivery, customer support, etc) and you have many components (computer, ebooks, help videos, software packages, etc).
